The MIA instant payment system , developed by the National Bank of Moldova and accessible through mobile applications, already has more than 100,000 users.
The new system was launched in the Republic of Moldova on March 12, 2024.
The MIA system allows people to transfer money between all payment accounts within 15 seconds, regardless of the payment operator servicing them, without providing third parties with access to bank details, simply by entering the phone numbers of the participants in the transactions. A big advantage is that the new transfer method is commission-free, the total transfer amount is up to 10 thousand lei per month. For transfers after this amount, small fees are charged, not exceeding 5 lei per transfer, regardless of the financial institutions involved.
At the moment, MIA instant payments allow two options: instant on page seo service transfer (P2P) and request for payment (RTP), but in the future the system will be expanded to QR code-based payments, payments via links in online stores, business-to-business (B2B) transfers, payments to the government (P2G) and transfers between own accounts (M2M).
